XXX Machina is an immersive, computational multimedia installation exploring how artificial intelligence disrupts and reshapes erotic desire, identity, and human intimacy. Operating as an autonomous desire machine, the work autonomously generates synthetic erotic imagery—deepfake renderings utilizing the artist's face—through recursive processes of algorithmic diffusion models. The artwork continually constructs and analyzes a custom dataset of prompts sourced from services for generating AI pornography, identifying recurring themes and patterns of collective digital fantasy. Tracking and responding to these patterns, XXX Machina continually generates imagery using traces of human bodies from previous images injected into the denoising process. Initially resembling conventional explicit imagery, closer inspection reveals disturbing visual ruptures and bodily impossibilities: bodies fragment and recombine unpredictably, detaching them from stable corporeal reference into uncanny and surreal assemblages.
